Curated Works: Writing

This portfolio is not meant to highlight my most current work, but is a list of some of my favorite pieces over the years, and is meant to show my style more than to have a massive list of bylines. My degree in marketing allows me to see the business-side of writing and not just the artistic side, which gives me an edge over many writers and makes my writing multi-faceted.

I am able to write in a specific brand voice, write technical manuals or advertising copy, and do creative work or work requiring deep research. I am a meticulous copy editor and I understand SEO and content marketing.

I don’t use software to make my writing sound voiceless and robotic unless specifically requested: A.I. and Grammarly are for hacks. Having said that, I am versed in using A.I. for research and faster story development; I just don’t use it for the creative work of writing… that’s why you hire creative people and don’t use software to spit out garbage: that will just attract garbage to your content.

If for any reason you want to see even more of my work, these pieces and many more are in a larger portfolio located at: https://johnnykillmore.contently.com/

[Interview]

“While change may be the only constant, Bryan Smith is having more than his fair share of it, and that’s a good thing. Coming so close to winning the AMA Pro Flat Track (now American Flat Track) championship for years, the 33-year-old Michigan rider claimed his first title in dramatic fashion last year, taking victory in the final yards of the final race of the season, narrowly beating out multi-time champion Jared Mees…”

[Original Research | Industry Analysis]

“People keep saying millennials aren’t buying motorcycles and the Baby Boomer generation is aging out of the sport. Well, that’s partly true. Boomers are stepping off the bike for good, or are buying the last bike they’ll ever own.

However, people age 20-40 are still riding; they just refuse to buy new motorcycles. Why?”

“Life gave Anthony Martinez several opportunities to give up on his dreams. A stint in Youth Corrections could have steered him into the prison-industrial complex. Instead he found a higher power. An eight-month battle with early-onset arthritis could have put an end to his love for creating art. Instead, he redoubled his efforts. A new career creating graffiti art on the convention circuit for multi-billion-dollar corporations fell …”
